2008 Spring Newsletter
Hello to all. My apologies for the lateness of the 2008 Tarabar Spring Newsletter. We had a great February and I am running 2 weeks late. My apologies. So, here we go, hope you enjoy it.
Our Annual Spring Specials Sale! Every year we offer a discount on sharpening of clipper blades and shears for the months of April and May. You groomers need to be getting everything sharp for the spring and summer grooming rush. So, all sharpening orders for clipper blades and shears will have a 10% discount applied to it for those two months. Clipper blades are $5.00 @ 10% will be $4.50 a set. Shears are $6.00 @ 10% will be $5.40. Regular freight discount is always in affect. Any order containing 12 blades, 12 shears or a combination of the two items equaling 12 units, we pay the return freight. This is a great way to save money.
New Andis Clipper Items Andis has introduced their new 4 webbed blade drive. This drive will last longer and give over all better service than the old style 3 webbed blade drive. And the cost stays the same! We are working on updating our web page to include many new Andis items such as the Model 23175 Lightspeed Illumination Clipper with a #10 blade. This clipper has lights built in to illuminate the area being clipped. This is great when grooming black or dark coated dogs or clipping in dark shaded areas. It comes with a 14 cord and is maintenance free, no internal oiling or greasing is needed. I laughed when I first saw it but then I saw a groomer using it and was sold on the idea. So keep an eye on our online site at tarabar.com to see this and other new items that we will be adding.
Kenchii Cutting Edge Shears Kenchii has added many new items to their grooming shear line and we have updated our website to reflect this. New items include the Matrix, Prodigy, Pink Poodle, Shinobi, Bumble Bee, Butterfly and the new Bliss. The Matrix has convexed edges and is offered in 8 straight and curved and a 45 teeth thinner. The Prodigy also has convexed edges and is offered in the 8 straight or curved. The others are offered in 8 straight and curved and 44 teeth thinners and have beveled or semi convex edges. The Five Star line has grown as well. It now is offered in offset handles as well as regular handles along with being offered in an 8 straight with a swivel thumb ring. On top of that the Five Star now offers a bent shank model in 7.5 straight and curved. Finally, the Five Star offers an entire line of TRUE lefties in 7, 8 and 9 straight and curved along with a 44 tooth thinner. The new Shinobi bevel edged shear features offset handles in the 7, 8 and 9.5 straight and curved along with 26, 30 and 44 teeth thinners. Shinobi also has an 8 straight and curved with a 44 tooth thinner in TRUE lefty design. And the HOT new item at the Cherokee Rose Dog show and the Atlanta Pet Fair was the new Scorpion and Five Star sets consisting of a premium case with an 8 straight, an 8 curved and a 44 tooth thinner included. The MSRP on the Scorpion set is $277.00 but if purchased thru Tarabar puts your cost at $226.80. The MSRP on the Five Star is $439.00 but purchased thru us puts your cost at $372.60. Flyers on these new items as well as the new Grooming Shear catalog will be available by the first of April and you can see them now on our website. You will also see the new line of shear cases and holsters there.
Atlanta Pet Fair If you missed this one you missed the best one yet. An even larger crowd attended than was there last year and they were lined up 3 deep to see the new Kenchii items. The Kenchii party, so I am told (I was too old and tired to attend this time!!!) was fantastic, with DJs playing the tunes and even Belly Dancers (you know I was tired and old when I missed THAT!!!). It is rumored that Andrew Beard of Kenchii even hit the dance floor and boogied! The booth was worked by Sammy, Andrew, and Karen from the office as well as Jay Scruggs, one of the internationally recognized groomers who also did grooming demonstrations. He is the Kenchii spokesman and if you get a chance to see him work dont miss it. He is one of the gifted top flight groomers.
Cherokee Rose Dog Show This was a barn burner with the Kenchii gang working the booth to introduce the new groomers line. Also there was Helen Howard who has been running this booth for me for 16 years and our webmaster and general office wizard, my daughter in law, Marti Bradford. She is who you talk to when you call us.

At all the cluster shows we will be sharpening shears, convex and bevel, and will have the full Tarabar booth with us. We will have shears, dryers, clippers, blades, combs and brushes, and accessories for sale. We will be accepting clipper blade sharpening and clipper and dryer repairs for mail back service. Mail back items are done the week following the show.
Mr. C.J. Moe, a Memorial The sharpening and grooming tool field lost one of the great names in the business on January 9th, 2008. Mr. Moe, founder of C.J.s Grooming Tools in Atlanta, GA passed away at the age of 89. He was a true Southern gentleman and an expert sharpener who was always ready to help others. Mr. Moe was active in the business until a couple of years ago. His son Robert Moe and Roberts wife Lisa are carrying on the family tradition and have been involved in the company for many years. We will miss him greatly.
